Real people. Real stories. Built for the Anaheim Sustainability Education Center.

Documentary video that turns complex, public-interest subjects into clear, human stories — in English and Spanish. We work directly with kids and create alongside them, for audiences that include children themselves and the adults who care for and educate them. It's why San Diego's leading youth and education institutions — Children First Collective, Girl Scouts, La Jolla Country Day — turn to us.

Our approach

How we make complicated stories accessible to the public.

Scripted + candidScripted narration paired with real, candid interviews.
BilingualEvery video delivered in English and Spanish.
Cinematic + accessibleEmmy-caliber craft, captioned and accessible.

San Diego Community Power

Energy / utility (CCA)With JSR StrategiesScene & community capture

For San Diego's Community Choice energy provider — a JSR Strategies client — our team captured documentary scenes and B-roll across the region, from the coast to inland neighborhoods, and cut the hero film that now leads the utility's website (playing above). It tells an energy story through real people and real places.

Why it's relevant to APU: our most directly comparable work — a public, community-owned-style energy utility, captured in our documentary style and produced inside the very partnership now bidding Anaheim. JSR holds these deliverables and can speak to the work directly.

Children First Collective

Public-interest educationVideo newsroomComplex policy → plain language2024–ongoing

A child-care coalition needed to move a systemic, hard-to-feel issue from policy circles into the public conversation. We serve as their full-service video newsroom — turning dense economic and policy content into stories that families, kids, and decision-makers actually absorb. We put real providers and real kids on camera, in English and Spanish.

Why it's relevant to APU: the exact challenge of the SEC videos — complex, technical public-service content made clear and human for audiences that include children themselves and the adults who care for and educate them, sustained as a real production operation over years.

Girl Scouts San Diego

Youth / K-12 educationDocumentary storytellingReal subjects on camera2024–ongoing

We embedded with Girl Scouts across summer camp and the Balboa Park campus — following girls through high-adventure challenges and quiet moments of mentorship, and interviewing staff, volunteers, and the girls themselves. A two-film pilot for the Urban Campout fundraiser became an ongoing photo and video retainer documenting youth-education programs.

Why it's relevant to APU: this is documentary storytelling with young people and educators at the center — the same audience and approach the SEC needs, capturing authentic, candid moments rather than staged scenes.

La Jolla Country Day School

History & facts, told wellCentennial filmArchival + interviewEducation

For La Jolla Country Day School's centennial, the school wanted its 100-year story told through a human lens rather than a timeline. We produced The Legacy of Louise Balmer — an anniversary film built around the school's founder — weaving interviews with past and present leadership together with archival material to bridge a century in one clear, moving narrative. It became the centerpiece of the school's anniversary celebration.

Why it's relevant to APU: this is the core SEC challenge in miniature — subject matter loaded with history, facts, and institutional detail, shaped into a story that's accurate and engaging. It shows our comfort turning archival and reference-heavy material into something an audience actually feels.

Arts District Liberty Station

Bilingual · subtitled in SpanishAnniversary filmArts & culture2025–2026

To mark 25 years as one of San Diego's signature arts campuses, Arts District Liberty Station needed a film that captured the District's cultural value for funders and the public. We produced its 25th-anniversary story alongside an ongoing artist-profile series — including interviews conducted in Spanish, translated and subtitled so the work reaches every part of the community.

Why it's relevant to APU: a direct example of our bilingual delivery — original-language interviews carried across English and Spanish with baked-in subtitles, exactly the workflow the SEC videos require.
